We’ve just launched a couple of new features in Turbomaps that make creating maps much faster.

Search for places

You can now search for places & addresses all around the world! To add a marker previously, you would need to know the exact location. Now, you can just search and several options will be suggested. After viewing your result on the map, you can add the place to a new layer.

Places search comes in handy if you’re not familiar with an area—super helpful if you’re using Turbomaps for travel planning.

Quickly run commands

You can also now search for commands available in Turbomaps—helpful if you are not sure about a keyboard shortcut, or unsure where the functionality lies. This feature is inspired by apps like Slack and Raycast, which make navigation with a keyboard super easy.

All existing menu items are accessible through the command search. Making changes to the data & design of your layers will be coming in a future update.

Dark mode

The Turbomaps UI now reflects your system theme—if you’re using a dark theme, the application will be easier on your eyes.

This doesn’t change the color of your basemap or layers. Your map will continue to show exactly how you’ve authored it.

Other changes

  • Paste coordinates directly, and they’ll be added to the map
  • You can now zoom to layers & zoom to fit
  • An option to hide the UI has been added
  • Fixed an issue causing editing to be slow if the data editor is open
  • Fixed a bug where reordering the basemap would break the editor
