Turbomaps Update: Organize layers with groups

· Written by Jono Cooper

You can now use groups to organize your layers in Turbomaps, making it much easier to bulk edit & keep track of items on your map.

Using Groups

There are several ways to create groups. Existing layers of any type can be selected and grouped together, but groups are now automatically created if a layer is selected while making a new layer.

Once layers are grouped, the entire group can be selected and transformed at the same time. If you have a group selected, any styling changes will be applied to all the items inside the group.

Groups can also be nested within groups. You can select individual layers from the sidebar, or by double clicking your layers on the map.

Improvements with Groups

Some of the existing features in Turbomaps have been improved with the introduction of groups.

  • Limits are significantly increased. Turbomaps now supports many more layers if they are within groups.
  • GeoJSON Imports will now be imported as a group—you can now import up to 75 features at once.
  • Notes can now be added to any layer, not just points.
  • Existing point layers have been automatically converted to groups.

Coming soon

While groups make it much easier to organize layers, it can be tedious to move layers between groups. Groups will get even better when drag & drop reordering, and copy/paste is introduced in the near future.
